Create a Campaign
First, you need to Sign Up and Create an Account using your Organization's and your name, email, and a password.
Then go to the ‘Start Projects’ link at the top of the landing page, and click on it.
You will then be prompted to choose a Funding Type. LikeMinded offers two Funding Types: Flexible and All-or-Nothing. Flexible funding means you receive your funds whether or not you achieve your desired funding goal, and funds are deposited into your organization's bank account on a regular basis throughout the Campaign. All-or-Nothing funding means you do not receive any funds unless you minimum target goal is met, and funds are deposited into your organization's bank account after the close of the Campaign.
Once you've selected a Funding Type, the Start a Project template will appear. If this is your first Campaign with LikeMinded, we encourage you to read our Best Practices Guidebook for effective crowdfunding before proceeding.
Follow the template from beginning to end, completing each section. Special instructions are offered at each step of the template for your guidance. You don't have to be perfect at this point; it's important initially to simply get started and begin entering content into each part of the template.
Once you have added some content into each section, scroll to the bottom of the template and click on Save and Submit so what you've done so far is saved and you can continue to come back and edit and revise as often as you wish. The Campaign won’t ‘go live’ to the public until you’ve refined each section and submitted it to LikeMinded for review and approval.
To return to continue editing your Campaign, click on your organization's name which appears in the upper right corner of the screen whenever you Log In. This will lead you to your organization's Dashboard. Under the Dashboard, go to My Listings and click on it, and your list of Projects/Campaigns will appear. Click on the Campaign you wish to edit, and then scroll down until you see the green Edit Project button on the right side of your screen.
Once you are ready to submit your Campaign to LikeMinded for review, can launch, you must enter a Stripe address into your project details. If you don't have a Stripe account, go to stripe.com and click on 'sign up.' Stripe makes it easy for you to receive your funds for successful Campaigns. Remember, Stripe charges 0.0% credit card transaction fees for IRS approved 501c3 organizations for the first $15,000 raised in a crowdfunding Campaign on LikeMinded.
We accept all types of projects (large and small) that contribute in some way to improving the quality of life for everyone or an important segment of residents in your city, town, community, neighborhood, county, or region. Examples include local leaders and residents collaborating to revitalize a park, support student scholarships, start a community garden, paint a mural, feed the sick, build a soccer field, rehab a community meeting hall, increase the branch library hours, preserve a landmark, clean up a river, launch a citywide arts festival, help kids and adults read, and whatever else you can imagine. Some Projects may have a national or even global reach.
Initially, LikeMinded is focused on helping nonprofit and public organizations fund 'public good' Projects. Within each Project's narrative, we encourage you to offer opportunities for people to volunteer time and talent to your project or organization. We also believe in the power of partnerships to increase your organization's reach and impact, and the Start a Project template has a section devoted to showcasing your partners.
We’re especially eager to feature projects and campaigns that serve the underserved, break the cycles of poverty and exclusion, and help to ‘even the playing field’ for all Americans.
We try to review projects as quickly as possible. Generally, as long as the Project template is complete, we can finish the review within 72 hours. However, depending on the Project details and/or the need for revisions, it may take a bit longer.
Yes. Again, our goal is to help improve the quality of life where you live, work, learn, and play, so we are eager to help get great projects started, amplified, and executed. The LikeMinded team has significant experience in all aspects of nonprofit fundraising.
Once your Project/Campaign is created and submitted, we review it to ensure it has all the details it needs to attract funders and support. Every section of the Start a Project template must be completed. For example, to help you build support, it’s essential to include a video that clearly expresses your Project’s goals. Most of us are drawn to visuals (studies say about 40% of people respond better to visual information than plain text), so be sure to use effective photos and videos to appeal to a wider audience. Use every opportunity LikeMinded offers to make the case for your Project and Campaign. Review our Best Practices Guidebook for more guidance on creating an effective campaign. We’ll email you once your Campaign is accepted, and tell you when it will be live on the LikeMinded site for public viewing.
We’ve added many sharing tools on LikeMinded, and their icons appear on the Contribution page of each live Project. With one click, a Campaign can be shared with your friends and colleagues on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more. You can easily embed Project/Campaign links in your emails, and embed widgets on your own website as well as your partners’ and sponsors’ websites.
You can also spread the word on your blog and personal website, tell friends at social events, talk to neighbors and even folks in the grocery check-out line. Make sure everyone you come across knows about your cause and campaign! For tips and more ideas, see our Best Practices Guidebook.
As the number of Campaigns increases and cluster in specific cities and geographies, we also help by providing broad promotion of your local Campaign through our partnerships, sponsors, and social media outreach.
That's great news! As long as the Project has not reached its deadline, fans are still able to participate and contribute (again). This is your opportunity to thank contributors through the Updates feature of your Campaign, letting existing and potential donors know what additional impact your organization can have with the funds received over goal. You are likely on a roll, and might even consider changing some of the substance of the Project Description to address the increased difference contributors are making with those you serve!
In order to launch your Project, you had to enter a Stripe address into your Project details. Now, at the end of your Campaign’s duration, there are several choices depending on the Funding Type you selected and the Campaign’s outcome:
A. If you chose Flexible funding in setting up your Project, funds are disbursed to the Project entity's bank account on a regular basis throughout the duration of the Campaign, whether or not you achieved your full desired goal.
B. If you chose All-or-Nothing funding in setting up your Project, and you achieve or exceed your fundraising goal, Stripe automatically disburses the funds to your Project entity's bank account when the Campaign deadline is reached. At this point, please remember it’s your responsibility to make sure all rewards are delivered to each of your contributors in a timely manner. You can use the LikeMinded platform for any rewards that can be delivered via an email (e.g. a coupon for a free cup of coffee).C. If you chose All-or-Nothing funding in setting up your Project, and your minimum funding goal is not reached by the Campaign deadline, all contributions pledged are immediately cancelled. No money is collected from your contributing fans, and LikeMinded receives no fees. But, you now have the opportunity to thank your fans, rethink your strategy, and consider relaunching a revised campaign, inviting your donors to contribute once again. We encourage you to review our Best Practices Guidebook and incorporate as many tips and ideas as possible.
In order to launch your Project/Campaign, you had to set up a Stripe account and enter a Stripe address into your Project details. How and when you receive your funds depends on the Funding Type you selected when setting up your Project/Campaign.
A. If you chose Flexible funding in setting up your Project, funds are automatically disbursed to the Project entity's bank account via Stripe on a regular basis throughout the duration of the Campaign, whether or not you achieved the full desired fundraising goal.
B. If you chose All-or-Nothing funding in setting up your Project, and you achieve or exceed your fundraising goal, Stripe automatically disburses the funds to your Project entity's bank account shortly after the Campaign deadline is reached.
It’s free to Sign Up and register on LikeMinded and free to submit projects. When a Project is successful, we charge a service fee of 5% of the total funds raised. This fee covers our cost to maintain the service, broaden public awareness of your organization and the Campaign through partnerships, capture donor contact information, process donor contributions, acknowledge donors, provide initial receipts, account for the funds, transfer funds and donor records to your accounting and donor management systems, and handle donor rewards that can be sent via email. If a Project is not successful, LikeMinded receives no fees.
In addition, third party and credit card companies charge transaction fees. LikeMinded uses Stripe to process donor contributions. Currently Stripe charges 0.0% credit card transaction fees for the first $15,000 raised for IRS approved 501c3 organizations, 2.2% + 30 cents per transaction thereafter for non-American Express cards, and 3.5% per transaction thereafter for American Express cards. If a Project is not successful, contributors are not charged, and there are no credit card transaction fees.
Fund a Campaign
If you received a Campaign link from a friend or your favorite nonprofit, start with Step 3 below. Otherwise, click on Browse Projects.
Find a specific project or campaign by searching with keywords, or reviewing the Featured Projects. Or, simply browse campaigns until you find one you want to contribute to.
Click on the Campaign photograph and you'll be taken to the Project Overview. Most Campaigns have a short video introducing the project as well as more content and photographs describing why the project is being done, who it benefits, and what the funding is going to.
When you're ready to make a donation, click the blue “Contribute” button.
If you haven't already logged in, you will be redirected to create a Log In or Continue as Guest, after which you'll be returned to the Contribution form.
Enter your Contribution amount, Choose Your Reward (if you want one), enter Your Contact Details, and click Save and Submit.
You can then Check Out with Stripe by clicking Pay with Card and entering your credit card information.
You’ll receive an email confirmation. Save it for your records. The organization receiving your donation will send you a final receipt for your tax records at a later date.

The Campaign Owner will keep you – and the page – up to date on progress.
If the Project/Campaign is noted as Flexible funding, your contribution is processed immediately, and the funds are transferred to the Project entity's bank account.
If the Project/Campaign is noted as All-or-Nothing funding, your contribution is processed as a payment authorization only. At the end of the Campaign duration, your contribution is processed and funds are transferred to the Project entity's bank account if, and only if, the Project is successful in meeting its minimum fundraising goal. You will be notified via email in all cases.
Registering on the website and contributing to campaigns is completely free. Save your money for the causes!
We use Stripe to power the transactions on LikeMinded. You'll be able to pay securely with the credit card of your choice.
Stripe currently charges 0.0% credit card transaction fees for the first $15,000 raised for IRS approved 501c3 nonprofit organizations, 2.2% + 30 cents per transaction thereafter for non-American Express cards, and 3.5% per transaction for American Express cards.
If the Project/Campaign is noted as Flexible funding, your contribution is processed immediately, and the funds are transferred to the Project entity's bank account. You can make an additional contribution, but you cannot cancel your initial contribution.
If the Project/Campaign is noted as All-or-Nothing funding, your contribution is processed as a payment authorization only. If you wish to change or cancel your contribution, you can do so prior to the end date of the Campaign by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the Campaign reaches the end of its duration, you can no longer change or cancel your contribution.
No. Once the campaign has ended and the funds have been transferred it's out of our hands.
If the Project was set up as a Flexible funding Project, funds are disbursed to the Project entity's bank account on a regular basis throughout the duration of the Campaign, whether or not the Project achieved its desired goal.
If the Project was set up as an All-or-Nothing funding Project, and it doesn't reach its funding goal by the end of its duration, your contribution authorization will be cancelled and you will not be charged.
